As with the other wall patterns in this suite of papers, Clematis Frieze has an organic, naturalistic feel to it, as was the prevailing trend for design during the Aesthetic Movement. Behind the trailing vine of clematis Talbert again employs a scattered and delicate pattern of gold to softly illuminate the background of the pattern, giving it a dimension and richness that flat pigment alone couldn't achieve.
